Hey! In case you haven’t picked up on it from my other posts, I’m selling stuff at Wizard World. If you’re attending the con stop by, we’re friendly peeps. I’m splitting a table with Barry Sachs and we’ll have prints, stickers and I’m making some jewelry.

Get on it! Totes worth it.

True. If it’s awesome it’s awesome. It doesn’t matter if it’s made out of macaroni noodles or oils. Media shouldn’t be what makes art “art”. And in this case, the person was entirely basing her idiotic opinion on something she thought was good, then found out it was digital, and decided it wasn’t good anymore, that the artist “wasn’t really a painter”. And that’s stupid. There’s more back story to why this person continues to anger me, but that newest development is what set off the rant last night.

Barry is good at this. I am not. If social awkwardness was a superpower I’d be part of the most dysfunctional Justice League ever.

Zomg. Took a day trip to visit the Allentown Museum for the At The Edge show. It was pretty wild to see originals from Frazetta, Mucha, Rebecca Guay, Leyendecker, Brom, H. R. Giger, Frank Schoonover, Jeffrey Catherine Jones, Arthur Rackham…I could go on. And getting to see more work in person from Julie Bell, Boris Vallejo, and Donato Giancola was pretty cool (we saw them at work in person at the Society in NY last summer). I wanted to poke everything, but I controlled myself.
It was also a nostalgic moment for me when I saw the original art for The Horse And His Boy illustrated by Roger T. Hane, who did the covers of the Collier-Macmillan editions of the Chronicles of Narnia books, which are the editions I grew up with. Anyone interested in fantasy or science fiction art should go check it out before it’s over, especially you peoples in PA. Go. Go. Go!At The Edge. And then we bought the show’s book, because we’re book nerds.

So I received a call from my publisher yesterday. She said I was an “award winning illustrator” now. I like the sound of that. Moo Kitty won a gold medal from Mom’s Choice Awards. Whoo! So I designed this quickly for my site. The Mom’s Choice Awards site links the book to the Amazon page, and I was reading some of the reviews for it. Some mention the art, and how much their kids love it…it’s definitely a mood booster for me.

Just some old vectors I did, tweaked a bit for sticker design. If you were familiar with them before this you probably won’t really notice a difference, but I just fixed some stuff that was irking me.

I really do like the “Sprite” style I was using then, I should probably try to do a couple more like this, but consistent with the quality of work I’ve been doing.
